Key Benefits Description
  • Optimal pulp grade

  • Refining energy savings

Energy-intensive mechanical action during pulp refining develops properties needed for better fiber bonding. This product enhances fiber's response to refining and reduces the energy needed to meet strength specifications in paper and board.  It also helps debottleneck your refining step.

  • Chemical savings

This product improves the runnability and strengthening potential of fiber. That means it may complement, reduce the need for, or even replace common chemistries. These include starch, dewatering aids, strength resins and debonders.

  • Improved paper & board strength

This product modifies the fiber surface to improve fibrillation and other properties. This leads to better fiber-to-fiber bonding. The result is stronger paper and board.

Fibercare® U enables fiber, chemical and energy savings. It allows you to increase production and improve end-product quality. It tolerates higher temperatures and lower pH applications.

How cellulases improve paper and board strength

Through controlled action on cellulose on the fiber surface, cellulases improve interfiber bonding potential. That enhances paper & board's strength and structure.

The nature of the fiber surface plays a key role in the strength and structure of paper and board. Cellulases modify accessible cellulose on the fiber's surface. This controlled action gives the fiber surface new chemical and structural properties. Cellulases enrich key chemical functional groups and generate fibrillation on the fiber surface. That improves the refinability and strengthening potential of the pulp.

Mechanical refining may impact the integrity of the entire fiber wall. By contrast, enzymatic modification is a mild treatment that acts on the accessible surface. And unlike chemical strengthening additives, enzymatic treatment unlocks the fiber's own strengthening potential.
